This 70 hour course combines theory with practical instruction through lecture and practical skill training. The program covers the broad spectrum of electrocardiography, the art and science of EKG foundations and applications, EKG unit operation and troubleshooting, lead placement utilizing twelve lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognizing normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all twelve leads and plotting EKG axis as well as the more complex topics including hypertrophy, myocardial infarction and pacemakers.

The US Department of Labor projects a 24% increase in the number of EKG Technicians (or "Cardiovascular technologists and technicians") between 2008 and 2018.
Upon successful course completion, the student will receive a certificate of completion and will qualify for certification by examination through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) and the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
Minimum 18 years of age and high school completion or its equivalent. Students need competency in basic computer operations or completion of a basic computer operations course.
