Employment of professionals in the electronic health records field is expected to grow 20 percent by 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, commonly known as the stimulus law, contains several deadlines to help fulfill the goal that electronic health records be available to most Americans by 2014. Billions of dollars in grants have been made available to physicians to accelerate adoption. Once this transition has been made there will be a continued need for professionals to maintain these systems.

Recognition

Upon successful completion graduates will receive a certificate of completion and qualify for certification by the NHA.

Schedule

Program content is online in a modular system. Virtual classes will be held weekly to provide you with a complete learning experience.

Prerequisites

Minimum 18 years of age and high school completion or its equivalent. Admission to the program is open to any interested student who is proficient in keyboarding, has a basic understanding of a word processing computer program (Microsoft Word recommended) and has a command of English grammar and punctuation. Students will be required to have access to the Internet, printing capabilities and an email address. Program entirely online. Requires regular access to a PC and the Internet.
